My name is Alex.

I live in New York City, Manhattan specifically, and I am a 7th grader. I developed Sheer Stupidity over the summer of 2021 when I was at summer camp.

I am a bit of a card game buff. I enjoy playing Exploding Kittens, Magic: The Gathering (I want to play Cards Against Humanity but I am told I am still too young for that.)

Being so inclined, I wanted to make my own.

I started this whole thing just by thinking. I knew I wanted to make a card game, but what kind? What would it be about? I didn’t really know, so I just made a mishmash of different things, hence the name Sheer Stupidity.

The first card I ever made was the “Skull,” on really thick cardstock. I had been trying to make a lifesteal card. I failed, but the card turned out to be really creative! And then I made 9-Volt, then Toxin, then Bloodstain, and on, and on, and on, until I had made a simple deck of 16 cards. I introduced the cards to two boys at camp, and they loved it and wanted more. So I made all the other cards and transformations, and boom! We had a game we loved playing with.

Later on, after camp was done, I still had those first cards. I thought for a while as to what I wanted to do with them, and three months later, I decided I wanted to take my game to the next level. I created the cards, got help online getting them designed and printed and thanks to other online sources created decent-looking cards. So decent in fact that my friends told me I should sell them. (I guess that is what brings you to my page today.)

And so Sheer Stupidity was born! I took a lot of inspiration from a lot of places, but while you’re here, I’d like to acknowledge my parents, who have been very supportive of the whole endeavor from the beginning. (Even if they never understood the game.)
